Magnificent Tanzanite – Celebrating Africa
A customer of many years standing recently approached us to assist with a project. He is Italian by birth, and has worked all over the world for a South African based company.
On his travels, he bought a beautiful Tanzanite, which he has kept for 10 years, waiting for the moment to have it made into a gift for his wife. On a trip back to Italy, he took the stone to the family jeweller, asking for designs to make up this magnificent stone into a pendant.The jeweller’s reaction to the request was very disheartening – he was not prepared to work with the Tanzanite, saying that he thought it might be synthetic!
So back to Africa came the Tanzanite, and on to Veronica Anderson Jewellery, where “I should have come here in the first place!”
The design we settled on was to place the Tanzanite in the centre of a scrolled design, representing a cross. The scrolls were chosen not just for their aesthetic appeal but for the perfect tale of the journeys to reach this point.
The final piece is enchanting – and will be worn with joy!
