Sapphire is a gem variety of the mineral Corundum and occurs in all the colours of the rainbow, except for red, which is reserved for Ruby. This member of the “Big Three” is traditionally blue, its most valuable colour. But it also comes in a wide range of other colours, including yellow, orange, purple, pink, and green. Facetted good quality stones fetch very high prices across all the colours.
As with emerald and ruby, opaque material is increasingly sought after – presented in interesting cuts, it offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the charm of this most generously varied coloured stone.
