March Aquamarine
Aquamarines are part of the beryl family of gemstones and can be found in sea green, sky blue and dark blue. Fashions change as to the most desirable colour – today the more costly is likely to be icy dark blue.
Aquamarines are also found in softer sea greens and gentle pale blues. These stones work well in a variety of cuts, from formal faceted clear gems through to the milky cabochon cuts – and recently a cut known as a talpe has gained great popularity. The talpe cut is flat on the bottom and facetted on the top, and offers an affordable way to enjoy this beautiful gemstone.
An enchanting use of aquamarine is in its natural crystal form. With its infinite variety of shades aquamarine is likely to be found in everyone's jewellery box, not only those of March babies.
