In the 1920’s the modern brilliant cut was perfected, and this remained the go-to choice until the 2000’s hit us. Suddenly diamonds were being looked at for their charm and beauty even though they weren’t at the top of the scale in Colour and Clarity (two of the 4 magical “C”s, the others being Cut and Carat). The most highly priced diamond is still going to be that magical “D”, the top of the colour range (legend has it that they chose the letter “D” as the best colour found, expecting to find even whiter diamonds - but they never found an A, B or C!)
